Twice a year the colleagues perform oral surgery together in Kaunas. Lithuanians are satisfied with the results of successful treatment, as are patients from Latvia, Estonia, Norway, Denmark, Russia, and France.

Following the success of the unique operations - new opportunities for Lithuanian patients and dentists

On May 19-20, the International Lithuanian-German team of dentists in Kaunas Pro-implant Dental Clinic for the first time in our country has performed a dental implant surgery using allogeneic (donor) bone rings. The goodwill practise program aroused the great interest among the patients and specialists which led to the initiation of the specialized courses for the country's dentists.
During this visit, the director of the International Implant Institute „Pro-implant“, oral surgeon from Germany,
Dr. Bernhard Giesenhagen together with the director of the Dental Clinic, dentist Darius Pocebutas, who last year completed postgraduate studies in implantology at J. W. Goethe University (Frankfurt, Germany), performed 7different operations.
One allogeneic bone ring augmentation together with implant placement takes about 30-45 minutes. "Procedure is fantastically simple – you open the box and already have a ring bone. Some patients, for fear of taking the ring bone out of the jaw, refused to bone augmentation. Now, we will be able to assist many more people, "- shared his impressions D. Pocebutas, who from now on will apply this method into his everyday practice.
According to the dentist implantologist from Denmark Jorgen Walino , this goodwill practise program both, on volume and complexity of the surgeries, was very impressive. "Within two days I learned more than in my daily practice I would learn in a half year“ – enjoyed the benefits of the visit in Kaunas the guest.
According to another guest, a facial surgeon from Austria Norbert Fock, Dr. B. Giesenhagen‘s methodology should be called the revolution in implantology. "The Method – is simple, easily implemented and therefore is genius. It is unique because this one-stage method ensures much better performance than a traditional two-stage treatment ", - underlined N. Focke.
With it‘s arsenal of equipment and staff expertise, Clinic Pro-Implant have made an excellent impression on colleagues from abroad. Dental Clinic will continue on arranging joint operations twise a year together with dr. B. Giesenhagen. Immense interest in this program among the specialists, led to organize a bone augmentation courses for Lithuanian dentists. As of last weekend's meeting, in addition to the theoretical part, the participants of the course will be able to watch the performed operations. So far, Lithuanian specialists for this field of specialized training had to go to Germany or Austria.
The Interest in allogeneic ring method to its‘s author, Dr. B. Giesenhagen, - is a familiar thing. Specialists from different countries regulary come to watch operations, performed by dental surgeon. According to the German, who have already performed over 1000 bone ring augmentations, colleagues involvement and exchange of thier experiences enrich his own knowledge. Dental specialist, who is interested in most complex implant cases, currently seeks to further improve allogeneic bone ring method – for ways to accelerate the recovery of bone,  the factors of growth and capabillity to use stem cells.
